This is mainly done through one-to-one counselling sessions that aim to enable a healthier lifestyle.
Other services offered by this Team include assessment, harm reduction, crisis intervention, support to families and significant others, assistance at the Law Courts, advocacy, aftercare and social re-integration, social work interventions and preparation of those individuals who choose to do a residential rehabilitation programme.
This services also offers the New Horizons Programme, consisting mainly of individual and group counselling as well as medication in the form of Naltrexone, offered by this Team in collaboration with the medical staff at the Substance Misuse Units. This programme is aimed at opiate users who are employed or gainfully occupied and have the necessary support to succeed in a community-based programme.

Teen Support Services
This service aims to identify young persons at high risk of misusing substances or those who already started experimenting with substances. It also offers its services through individual sessions to adolescents who would still be in an experimenting stage, and their significant others, who seek sedqa's help through the supportline or drop-in services.
On an individual level, youngsters are supported to build on their strengths, thus enhancing their skills which buffer them from addictive behaviour. They are also helped to identify and work on vulnerability factors in their life, consequently reducing the risky activites that may lead to addictive behaviour.
Booster
Booster is one of the services that Teen Support Services offer to students during their teenage life. It is an outreach programme aimed at young people in secondary and post-secondary schools, as it is believed that young people are at a higher risk of starting using of alcohol and drugs.
Booster involves going to schools, meeting and delivering sessions with each Form 4 class for six weeks on a weekly basis. In these weekly sessions, different topics are discussed. The varied topics help students reflect on the risk situations, or persons that may lead them to involve themselves in drugs, reflect on tthe consequences of such behaviour and help them learn coping skills that will avoid such incidence. Students are given the opportunity to choose the topics to be discussed. During the first visit, students are given a booklet, which helps them think about topics they feel are important to discuss. However, students can also suggest other topics that are not included in the booklet. Each student is given the contact details of the worker in the eventuality that he/she might feel the need for support.
Each session will help to engage and build a positive relationship with the students. High risk students are assessed and individual support is provided to each student who needs more intervention. The whole process is carried out with the guidance team within the schools and other support is provided by them if the need arises.
