Community-Based Programmes
Local Councils sedqa works closely with various local councils who embark on projects that promote a healthy lifestyle amongst the citizens of particular localities. Various efforts are taken in collaboration with the said councils that vary from outreaches, training sessions within the community and also consultation meetings with the council members and the sub-committees of the respective councils.
Collaboration with Non-Government Organisations Empowerment of various organisations is one of the resources sedqa is investing in to promote a healthy lifestyle amongst the general public. The methodology takes place on various levels to enhance active participation amongst the community. Active participateion leads to greater awareness and training related to life skills and healthy attitudes.
sedqa offers financial support to any non-governmental organisation or group of individuals that would like to set up an activity to raise awareness about substance abuse or misuse and healthy lifestyles.
Post Secondary Schools The Community-Based Programmes also target the post secondary schools by means of interventions that are carried out within different institutes. As opposed to what happens within the primary and secondary schools, these programmes and initiatives delivered within this area are not fixed, but rather designed according to the need of the particular institute. These initiatives are created after consultation with the administration of the particular institute and with the student's representative councils.
National Activities Events are also organised on special occasions that are celebrated from time to time. Amongst such occasions, activities are organised to mark the National Youth Day and the International Day Against Drug Abuse.
Alternative Leisure Activities/Projects This project is primarily targeted to young people aged between 13 to 16 years old. It involves the organisation of one-off activities that promote healthy attitudes amongst the particular target audience. Usually these activities are organized in collaboration with different NGO's, to provide young people with the information related to the particular groups that they may join on a regular basis. By means of this project, young people are encouraged to engage in healthy activities and form part of groups with different charismas.
Pay it Forward Mocktails - Supported by Monin The sedqa Pay it Forward Mocktails is a project coordinated by sedqa's Community Services which form part of the Agency's Prevention Services.
